Brick Bandits march on AIDS Walk May 17th was an unforgettable occasion. Here are a few words from Bandits CEO Mike V, whose leadership, determination and enthusiasm, along with our executive admin, Tyisha “Momie” Greenleaf, made it such a fun, uplifting and invaluable experience for everyone involved.
“When Brick Bandits first got involved with Aids Walk NY it was hard trying to convince people to walk 6.2 miles for a great cause. Our first team consisted of only 4 walkers (Stress Malone, Cherry, DJ Bobby Blast & yours truly Mike V) we had only raised $120 to go towards the cause and that was out-of-pocket. Since then Brick Bandits has been committed to doing its part for the last seven years and will continue for many years to come.
We have to realize that HIV/AIDS exist in the world we live in and that it has an impact directly or indirectly on each of our lives. You don’t have to be infected to be affected.
Brick Bandits had an amazing turnout, 42 Team BBC members and don’t forget I was able to get Brick Bandits to dj at this event too. We raised a whopping $3,500; our original team goal was $2,500. Our participation in this walk is one of the proudest moments in my life! I truly want to thank everyone who made this possible, especially Melissa Sirola, the Senior Community Organizer & Rebecca Apruzzese, our Team Coordinator for Aids Walk NY 2009. We are all looking forward to the 25th Anniversary of AIDS Walk in 2010!”
