Certified Bangers 2012

Last Friday of 2012. And I think it is safe to give a look at some of the best releases of 2012, and two coming up in 2013!!

This is just a glimpse of all the megaworld available; as we have posted literally thousands of tracks!!

If you want to know, why these songs made it to this top list when the bar is so high, join me to this
♫ ♪♪♫ CABALLO marks this as: CERTIFIED BANGER ® Post!!

Number 10 is for my man Marek, a Dancehall/Dub Polish Producer who goes under the name Dreadsquad, he made a version that many, MANY people agree that is better than the original, now, this is nothing new; the fact a cover is perceived as better than the original, ( Jhonny Cash’s hurt or Whitney Houston’s I will always love you can be few examples) but it is VERY rare when we are talking about the most remixed song in 2012!!
Skrillex & Damian Marley- Bum dem (Dreadsquad Remix)

Number 9 represents a HUGE movement, so this is just a sick example of a whole bunch of awesome tracks from TUKI that are available out there.
Pocz & Pacheko feat Dj Yirbin: MUEVELO

Lets keep things moving towards Number ONE!!
But in order to do so, let’s unveil Number 8 which still strikes hard!!
Baauer’s take of Flosstradamus Roll Up, bounced Trap to a different level in terms of Dancefloor acceptance.

Lucky Number 7 can be described as World Music meets Moombahton!
Indeed, a Massive addition to Moombahton, the Afropacific sounds, this new approach has had the support of Levi’s
(the clothing company) as well as Nadastrom, Uproot Andy, just to name a few.
Banginclude and the whole Root A Pacifica made a revival of this forgotten folklore.

Number 6 , or should I name it number 666, after the infamous Name, Krokobil!!!
In the hundreds of Moombahton best of around, no one mentioned this one. So why I chose this? Because they achieved something none of the other top moombah-heads achieved.
Yellow Claw, went straight from underground to a Sony label contract with this epic tune!

HALF way is a MUST ENJOY!
Number 5 is a song in where you can really realize the whole Diplo/Snoop Lion relationship DOES have a valid musical intention, regardless press, fans and public opinion, THIS SONG is about UNITY!!

Number Four comes from Dominican Republic.
Praised by Munchi, Redbull, and the island major music blogs as a real addition to the new sounds, Freaky Phillip produced a jewel, that may become a reference point in 2013 for many who add bachata, mambo, and merengue to their explosive tracks.

Number 3 is a knock out.
Ondatropica is simply, THE BEST CUMBIA PROJECT OUT THERE! This is a 2012 release, that sounds like 50′s/60′s/70′s/80′s tropical sounds.
The whole album is sublime.

Second Place!! Perhaps the biggest/most played tune of 2012 in every set!!!
Major Lazer- Original Don ( Flosstradamus rmx)!
This track unleashed an unexpected beast called TRAP which devoured Dubstep, Moombahton, Cumbia, and pretty much anything for a big portion of 2012!!

And my favorite track, Numero UNO is a personal sin. Divided in two. The Yin and Yang of Dancehall. Number ONE in my list are actually complementary — not opposing — forces, interacting to form a whole greater than either separate part; in effect, a dynamic system. Something I personally believe Mad Decent stands for:
Underground Music, with undeniable quality, morbid visuals or sounds, but with a meaning.
Jamaican left field Dancehall!!

AND the highly anticipated FEB 2013 new MAJOR LAZER ALBUM!!!!

Honorable mentions!!

UZI, Excision, and pretty much everyone in the TOP of trap’s game
from a billion tunes, the mention goes to Swagga

In the same sense trap meet baile funk…Mulherada

303Bass had to be mentioned

Azonto Fiesta

There isn’t really much “banger” is there?

in music, like any other form of art, almost everything is subjective. This is just a glimpse of a whole available musical universe in where, it is very unlikely that two people have the exact same list in that specific order. What you consider as a Banger, may differ, with what I consider a banger. To me, a banger is a track that makes an impact into a specific target /genre in terms of plays/perception/and possibilities of sonical expansion. By saying this, the banger of 2012 is with no doubt Gangam Style. But I think that song is not relevant for a Mad Decent post, neither for the articles I have covered.

Well… I would have to agree.

It’s just to me a “banger” means more of a loud, aggressive track. Whereas your definition is more of that of a favourite.

Anyway – Keep up the posts.
