Homegrown: HipLife in Ghana

by Sonali Fernando June 15, 2010 | 9:37 AM

I live in New Orleans and recently attended a backyard screening of HomeGrown: HipLife in Ghana. The documentary, filmed over the course of a decade, follows the evolution of Vision In Progress (aka V.I.P.) within the Hiplife and International Music Community.  Hiplife is Ghanian music that brings together hip hop and high life music---two things I lerv (wikipedia knows about it). The film was made by the Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi over at Clenched Fist.  Check it out, and if you're into it, host screenings in your home town!
