YO DJA HERE. Lately there have been a lot of music coming out of my hometown and state and I wanted to share it with you.
Johnny Spanish is based in NY and from Louisville, I featured his free LP on the blog earlier
this year (including the song 'part of the plan' produced by me) - this dude hustles harder for sure, check out his smoked out new video with T Razor
Nappy Roots! They've been around for about as long as I can remember, and everytime I think they aren't going to make any new music they suddenly come with like 5 mixtapes, new videos, new fulllength, whatever. Earlier this year they did the Nappy University vol 1 mixtape with DJ Smallz, and last week they dropped vol 2 with Greg Street.
They've also got a new video 'The People' featuring louisville neighborhoods and landmarks...I gotta shoutout the store Better Days West, owned by Ben Jones aka Benman. I came up in the punk section of Better Days, and Ben was the first person to put out a real record of music I made and take me seriously. He also taught me everything I know, from 'how to dj' to who DJ Screw is. Dude has been a huge influence on my life to say the least!

Amtrac is out of Lexington KY (and Florida) who first came across my radar via his remix of Amanda Blank. Interesting dubstep and bass music - keep an eye on this dude for sure! Here is a new track by him-

Nemo Achida, also from Lexington KY has a new EP which was just released on 9/22. Its available for free download in either mp3 or FLAC format at his website. For fans of roots, slumvillage, hiphop i guess right!! Check out this track from the release:

Figure, a producer out of Louisville, has been working with Tommie Sunshine and getting his own remixes out recently. Sure to be one to watch in the coming year. Look for him on the recent Hostage release and checkout this awesome free tune, 'The Phantom' just in time for Halloween.

Lincoln & The Lost Prayers - I've not seen these guys in forever, but I used to be in a band with some of them! Thanks to the powers of classmates.com...i mean facebook.....I recently caught that they've got a new full length album available totally for free on reverbnation.
