Plus you have to remember, during this time frame a lot of the south was still dry, so there were still places that it was very difficult to even get beer. Shoot I know a couple of counties in NC that are still dry to this day I can still remember very well in my childhood grocery stores refusing to sell beer until after noon on Sunday. It used to be a law, but there are still some very bible belt-y areas that still enforce that. And of course there are still the ABC stores you can't buy hard liquor in grocery or convenience stores. Only at ABC stores. We have some weird laws round these parts
