“As New Moon hysteria consumed the youth zeitgeist again this month, it was interesting to revisit the kind of material that electrified hormones one generation removed. In some ways I think this kind of music filled the role that soapy franchises do today in terms of connecting to teen angst and fantasies. The boys also looked like pasty vampires and the girls were often just as cheerless — but at least they had something to say.”
