This lil bro is the Aye-Aye, he makes a lot of weird animals list but Aye-Aye’s rule because the weird things about it are what help it live.
Aye-Aye’s are the largest nocturnal primates and are the only mammal to use echolocation to find its prey. It uses its long middle digit to tap on the bark of the trees to find the larvae of wood-boring insects and grubs. Once found it uses its rodent like incisor teeth to get inside, then using the same long middle finger, ferrets the insect larvae out. The whole thing looks like some sort of dirty act.

This extra long finger is also used to scoop out the flesh from coconuts as well as other fruits which augment the aye-aye’s diet of insects.

They are really really lax with human contact which is too bad because they are often killed on site since they are thought to be an omen of ill luck. Such hunting, coupled with habitat destruction, have made the Aye-Aye critically endangered. Today their numbers are thought to be about 1000-2000 and are now protected by law.
