Street Performers — Drum and two Nagrasurums

Sorry for the long break in between my India stuff, anyways here’s the last day of my trip. So after the Press Conference and the Rooftop Party from the day before I had one more day in Mumbai and with all work behind me I had a day to get lost and do some exploring. As I was going around looking for gifts for others I came across a small cassette shop, with about 1000 records lining the walls, and as i was going through them one of the store keepers would leave and come back with more. So finally i asked him where he kept going, and he ended up bringing me to his house which had lockers full of hindi records.

So I’d like to say sorry to friends and family because on my only day off instead of shopping for you, I spent the whole time going through these vaults. But hey with all the money i make off ebay from the doubles I’ll buy you all real nice things! Anyways i dug for records up until I had to leave to meet Padmini, who’ll be helping continue Heaps Decent out there while i’m away. She just moved to Muday before and I wanted to show her around before I left. So needing to have my last day ritual of eating papad at Omkar’s house, I invited her along to see Dharavi have some food and juice with some friend’s. It had been a year since i seen most of them, Chetan the super body builder showed me his latest photos of his latest wins and Omkar showed me how to update my Orkut account.

After the food and catching up I was off Wahid’s house for a quick interview with Rolling Stone India before i cabbed to the airport and flew home.

This trip to India was overwhelming in the best possible way, and I’d like to thank everyone I spend time with for making this 10 day trip outta no where so full, especially Matias and Rahul who without them I have never been to India I the first place. You should check out their latest Article in the NY times and if you missed the posts that i made during my trip they can all me found here, with more added photos and pictures than my original posts.

May 06, 2010 | 5:27 PM Posted by: Harshawardhan Lanjewar Hi there It was great coming across your website :) What particularly caught my eye was your little write-up on Hindi records that you bought at Mumbai. I am from California and visiting Mumbai sometime soon and would love to dig into some of the old records and stuff. Please let me know the addresses or name of shops and the areas where you purchased the records and I will be forever grateful to you. Thanks a lot :) Harshi
