Make it Yourself

"I've been checking this guy out since last year sometime on his youtube channel -- Timofey. He makes all kinds of tracks and has plenty of stuff on beatport and elsewhere, but most people probably know him from his recreations of popular dance tracks using only Ableton Live and it's built-in synths.

What is really brilliant though is the ability to download the ableton live sessions, complete with audio samples. You can get them all at his site.

Because he has made these sessions available, it's possible that a lot of cheap copycat stuff could be made using his patches.  However, I'd like to think that a more likely possibility is a kid who loves the originals can now see how much synth programming and sound design plays a role in their favorite tracks and will inspire them to make something crazy with their own basic tools; rather than worry about needing some 'magic vst' or something like that.

April 05, 2010 | 6:01 PM Posted by: Max Power Thanks for the heads up, because I am one of those kids who's trying to learn the art of programming synths, struggling slow and steady but this will help me with getting familiar with the sounds.
