In addition to Black Like Me, I'll also be doing a bi-weekly 'cartoon strip' for the Mad Decent blog called P&P.
P&P takes its namesake from Woody Allen's film 'Deconstructing Harry', specifically the scene in which the main character, Harry Block, played by Allen, is visiting his devoutly jewish sister, Doris. Doris regards Harry as a nihilistic and cynical self-hating jew, and sums up her feelings about Harry thus: "He has no spiritual center! He's betting everything on physics and pussy!" Hence the name, P&P.
I gravitated toward the title and theme because it seems that no matter how far civilization has carried human beings toward refinement, enlightenment and the like, there are certain base things that will always motivate us and consume our desires. And those elementary things are reflected in the stylistic execution and tone of this cartoon: shit's retarded ya'll. I'm definitely not trying to win an Eisner Award with this one.
So with my excuses being made, and a sufficient explanation being given, I present to you P&P.
