Mad Decent

i know im a coupla days late on this .. but i had to go from a coupla of days on tour to sxsw straight to being justice warm up dj “lemme see you throw your hands in the air!” standing in front of their gigantic marshall stack set up on a lil rinky dink table djin random music in front of like 2000 kids.. i thought i was doin a good enough job.. but kids are like myspacin me “sorry no one danced in detroitbut instead threw glowsticks at you” i dont remember that but damn .. justice was MAD LOUD. i sat at the merch table all night eatin pizza and eve some like 12 yr old girl got an autograph with her parents …people were requesting earplugs, justice live show is pretty bad ass though i tried to bring my wind dancin dude airpuppet people from tx but really no one cares im at these shows so fuk it. we are collecting all the unused liquor at least

anyway back to sxsw.. first day. me and Dja and the home team flew in from memphis/philly and we met lawnmower man / lost dude and so far we were good.. we made up a song about all the other bands arriving that goes something like “we gonna get signed tonight!!” in a van halen melody ..

then thursday night I played in barcelona bar with flying lotus and gaslamp killer and its was soemthing really different.. i did a sort of dubstep set and kids were happy, ended with int’l players anthem and then went to the VIP booth til we all got kicked out for smoking weed – gaslamp killer had one of my favorite sets of the whole thing.. with a mix of downtempo and old samples and even used the distortion from the over run monitor to his benefit I thought i was in a hip hop club in the future for a minute. I blew out that shit while I was playin in fact.

after wards we got those random texts from the philly dudes about pool house party until 6am so I went over there and DJed with boyz noise and that dude form holy ghost. we only played in a monitor and i met perez hilton and got beer poured on my head and SMD and mixhell smalltown blujemz and everyone was there and it was fun and felt like a scene from a recent teen movie

then i went to bed and friday we did the mad decent I heart comix party. it was 2 pm until 2 am.. and that shit was crazy. but first I had to DJ at stubbs between bands.. up in the loft thing.. people could hear it up where I was but mostly it was a mess and only bass feedback came out really quietly to the audience. but i played a set of garage
and punk from the 60’s some psychadelic rock and indian stuff and when vampire weekend finished i got on and played the theme song to coming to america (black ladysmith whats there names cover of the tokens) and a couple of prissy journalist jerks down stairs gave me the fuck you dude face and it was worth it, cause u really cant take yourself serious at sxsw.. the whole thing is a joke i guess

back at mad decent party i did my worst dj set of all time for santi (not having her tracks on my computer, playin tracks with vocals on them.. having to restart and ever playing a song backwards!!??! i dont even know how I did that. but it was terrible and at least she handled it well and i guess it was like a rehearsal for the show later in the night at Stubbs which she killed before opening for nerd..

i made it back to mad decent party to catch blaqstarr and dancing a lil bit on stage like a fool, and then decided to make my set a mashup between me and luca boy 8 bit and JOTS (since the VIP was shutting down and boby8 bit needed to play for some warm bodies) it was totally crazy .. our dancing airpuppet squiggly guys were hittin people and the crowd was live and i think it was a good look. i drank a bottle of jack and i dont even remember what happened after on this night

oh yeah me and atrak (with chad hugo on drums, and blaqstarr on mic) rocked this blender mag party for like 40 minutes and blaqstarr did his pussywet song like 15 times.. and we were just about to kill it when they pulled the plugs on us… good times I hit luca in the head with a plum me and atrak and nick dubs ate the whole rider and cool kids gave me back my 20 dollars and blaqstarr went home with 2 cute mexican girls

but saturday was upon us and we got some vegetarian food out at some hippy asian spot where i met all the TX candy raver kids that were sneakin into the mad decent party the night before, we ate and then we had to rush out and see about a meeting and then I got all my paper route CDs and went down to Fader fort and got jumped by security trying to sneak in the back before damian from the ol fader days saved me from gettin pushed through a chain link fence and dawgy bagz and the other dude form paper route helped me get all my cds back in a pillowcase..

david banner was doin his whole “white people!!!!” show with a the rock band and mannie fresh played nirvanan etc etc… but he drained the enrgy around before paper route went on (with only 2 members cause there was some bad news the night before) they did some songs and then some wierd grls played and then i met banenr who still doesnt remember me ever . he sent me to his cousin who gave me a business card and blkjks played too..

santi came on and i redeemed myself by doin a good set with a great blend with gucciman that made her forget her lyrics it was so great. then i saw spankrock kill it with amanda blank and hung out with pharell and talked about bmore club and how he did this joint for missy and he been down with bmore club since forever ago and i was just like… i feel ya.. whatever… he was seriously noodlin around the spankrock set though and bobbin his head to spankrock . santi did a verse and i think she seriously considered being a rapper from that moment on

we were out to see el guincho in some scary texas chainsaw massacre house where I ate a lot of bad free food and lost at guitar hero. elguincho played for 6 of us and it was bad ass… hes that dude and we are gonna fuck with his this year.. then MEl came on and mike 2600 and DJ 11 who played the worst mashup of all time – the 500 miles song with some salt and peppa beat thing.. wow blaqstarr was singin the lyrics and mano nad hollywood holt were doin some ol school dances and me and cosmo got more drunker..

then we went and saw dark meat play and i was pretty drunk by now .i had talked to curtis vodka and he wanted to do Dmt and said something like “i love amanda blank so much .. and then – sorry its not like M.I.A. two years ago..” that was one of the highlights.. i think he went off and did dmt and found his way back to alaska or somethign.. me and blaqstarr were in the mosh pit fake blood was there.. I had paint on my face and I kept hitting the band with balloons and beach balls to their heads hey tried to play while I was hitting them and they sill kept the place in riot form.. the enxt day i myspaced  hem and its all good.

me and blaq went to some parking lot with naeem and ninjasonic dudes and we did like 30 minutes of bmore club instrumentals and blaqstarr sang and naeem rapped and i had a towel over my head and played drums.. it ruled. we had about 20 to 25 people there for the performance and then we went into some live performance from ninjasonic and blaq did more vocals and decided he wants to start a rock band. and then some bad jam band came back and wanted thier equipment and did some song.. also shout out to chris devlin. i think i did some drugs and ended up in the trunk of jaspers car.

the end

i went home for like 20 hours and now im in chicago.. what songs should I play?
