im in Rio.. I have to bounce from our apartment here in botafogo to some industrial park way west where all the films get doun mixed color corrected… etc.. the drive is about 45 minutes a night.. (yeah we only get the sound studio from 7pm to 4 am every night.. im only here for three days).. heres how i got to RIo.. Telviv party on sat.. (check me out in the dead sea) Ireland electric picnic on sunday (benga MCed for me).. drove back to dublin to catch a flight at 6AM on monday to paris.. to fly to RIO for 4 pm.. just in time to do the first day of sound mixing.. (where im at in studio watch in MC colibri) that shit is just stupid conisiderin i only have 2 days here to work before i have to go on..
so now im here driving thru Rio on a Wednesday night (oh yeah i got to go to the airport tommorow at 6AM to catch this flight back to nyc to dJ on a roof.. so no sleep tonight just baile funk in a dolby digital studio then a oversold TAM flight to JFK. but back to my ride her..
Rio is one of the craziest place in the world. its full of people and tension.. at night when u drive on the red lin.. its totally empty .. no cars at all .. just empty highways and yellow street lamps and an occasional police blockade and machine guns. Im in this taxi.. and he doesnt eve play music.. its jut windows down zippin thru the mountain blasted tunnels and bridges over the bays.. you can see lights everywhere in the distance on the hills where there are probably some sounds.. but all i got here is the sound of an car engine. its different then when i started this film.. we ran thru the town like this late at night . some times in the busses with the artists like MR catra or gorilla and preto or gaiolas das popozudas… but there was music and we ended up at a party after meandering of the highway in some deserted looking town thru 30 tiny streets i thought the bus wouldnt make thru . and ended up in the middle of a prohibidao … walls of speakers and rows of guns in the air (not always . but those were he most striking images).. but at its most dark .. u can see that its the industrial parts of rio and thats it. not human element but the cops. kinda suck but i can still see somethin in it.. like when kids play basketball til 2 am in floodlights in empty parks.. or some poetical shit, whatever im losing my mind! anyway here i am . in the studio editing sounds and fixing our film.. its almost 3 years ive been filming this . the jungle ate my camera and ate my girlfriend and dont think I can here toma toma toma toma toma any more… ha probably can since i gotta tour and promote this thing in 2009..
we debut here in Rio next month btw.. if u want to come .. its gonna be big.. but yo i just want to go to sleep motherfuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!
i just found this song on my computer dunno anything about it but im listenin to it now and i just want to post it cause it vaguely resembles what im talkin about
