Album Info
Buraka Som Sistema have been championing the Kuduro sound of Angola (from their home base in Lisbon, Portugal) for the last few years, with big tunes- one featuring MIA- and a highly successful debut album under their belts. This is an officially commissioned set of Mad Decent remixes for the latest single off their “Black Diamond” album. It features the original track plus three remixes from up and coming producers in the Mad Decent camp, all of whom have releases coming soon on the label. Toy Selectah is a don in the Mexican scene, a founding member of Control Machete (biggest Mexican hip hop group ever) and currently running in the pan-Latin American Cumbia scene. His remix of “IC19″ slows it down to cumbia levels with that signature hypnotic bounce and stretches things to a lovely 6 minutes. DJ Sega you should be familiar with by now – Philly’s finest club producer, Sega has been on a tear in the last year with “the best set at WMC 2009″ according to Tommy Sunshine, the New Jack Philly mix cd just released, and tons of remixes. He does his part here with a banging club mix in typical Sega style. And then there’s Toadally Krossed Out, the mystery toad-masked guys from Wales – you will be hearing big things from them very soon.
They tore up the Mad Decent party at SXSW, have been getting support from big UK djs, have some monster remixes coming for people like Major Lazer, and might have the best remix on here – this thing is truly mental! Nice full package, with three very different remixes.
Originally released on May 26, 2009.
